The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.

In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Summer Student, Mill Utility to join our Thompson Creek Mill Maintenance team for the summer of 2025. In this role, you will perform general maintenance tasks and various clean-up activities to help prepare and plan for ongoing Mill projects. Additionally, this position will have an opportunity to complete challenging and rewarding projects while working alongside our professionals in the field.

Your responsibilities will include the following, but are not limited to:

Handling and transporting materials.
Cleaning up workplace areas from obsolete material.
Perform manual labor tasks, including loading/unloading, sweeping, mopping, and painting.
Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

To qualify, the following experience and skills are required:

Applicant must be at least 18 years of age, or older, by the beginning of the summer work term.
Full-time enrollment in post secondary education program in the fall (verification required prior to hire).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Possess and maintain a valid a driver’s license.
Ability to pass Thompson Creek Mine pre-employment physical, which includes drug and alcohol testing.

About The Role

The Heap Leach Metallurgist is responsible for planning and operating metallurgical testwork in on-site labs and pilot scale equipment.

As a Graduate Metallurgist, your role will include

Assisting with set up and running an on-site pilot scale agglomeration drum.
Conducting column-scale testwork for investigating geotechnical, hydrogeological and metallurgical performance of samples.
Conducting bench-scale testwork for acid consumption, leaching, and bacterial growth investigations.
Operation of material handling equipment such as laboratory-scale crushing, screening and conveying equipment.
Routine completion sample analysis such as pH and Eh measurements and titrations.
Review of in-field equipment and assistance with collecting plant measurements such as solution samples, solvent extraction samples, heap instrumentation.
Cleaning and maintaining workspaces to be free of clutter – leaving the labs in the same condition they started in.

You will be accountable for

The responsibilities of this role will include being able to work independently on assigned tasked in a safe and effective manner. This will include ensuring the safety of yourself as well as other coworkers.
To able to work in an active mine site and abide by all MSHA and OSHA compliance including all local safety protocols such as zero tolerance for drug and alcohol.
Ensuring a high level of detail on task such sample collection are completed in a comprehensive and representative method as outlined to ensure sample quality and analysis.
To be able to effectively work in environmentally adverse conditions including high temperature associated with Arizona climate.
Have a desire and ability to learn new tasks and responsibilities. This role will include a variety of changing tasks and assignments as the project develops.

What You’ll Bring

Desire to learn more about how heap leach operations are managed and optimized.
Ability to link technical background to the performance of a heap through understanding testwork data, including a wide range of inputs such as geotechnical stability, air and solution conductivity, acid consumption, oxygen consumption, metal dissolution and metal precipitation.
Keen to work on an operating mine site deploying a novel processing technology.

TAREAS CLAVES

Mantener motores eléctricos y generadores de equipos.
-Mantener sistemas eléctricos en general.
Detectar fallas en los equipos, determinar los componentes que generan algún problema en el Proceso y realizar los ajustes y cambios necesarios para dejarlos en operación normal.
Realizar inspecciones estándar de seguridad en los equipos e instalaciones eléctricas de la Planta.
Participar de los análisis causa raíz de fallas y problemas que afecten a instalaciones y equipos eléctricos.
Conocer y aplicar los procedimientos de seguridad y evaluar y controlar los riesgos asociados a las tareas del cargo.
-Conocer y aplicar los procedimientos de trabajo del área eléctrica, entre los cuales destacan: Reglamento eléctrico plantas, intervención de líneas, trabajos en altura
Disposición proactiva para la correcta implementación, del SGI, SGE y del Estándar de Energía y Emisiones de GEI.

Requisitos

Titulado de técnico nivel superior o universitario eléctrico
Certificación SEC vigente
Experiencia de mínimo 2 años en Mantenimiento Eléctrico para Plantas de procesamiento de mineral

Conocimientos

Conocimientos de configuración de variadores de frecuencia.
Análisis e interpretación de planos.
Conocimientos de control eléctrico.
Conocimiento en trabajos de Alta, Media y Baja tensión

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

Safely perform duties related to the production of copper and/or molybdenum concentrates in the Mill at a skilled level.
Complete duties within the Mill process which could include tasks within the following areas: fine crushing plant, COB, ball Mill, roughers, cleaners, flotation cells, moly plant, copper moly thickeners, tailing thickeners, and mill control room
Take process readings and makes necessary process changes or adjustments
Use electronic process monitoring system to monitor conveyor, plant systems and equipment
Perform start-up and shut-down of plant or related systems
Operate processing equipment and makes adjustments as needed; performs basic maintenance on processing equipment and reports maintenance issues
May operate mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, and overhead cranes
Perform area housekeeping duties and may perform work area and safety audits
Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

Six (6) months of experience in Mill process operations
Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.
Knowledge of the wet grind system and flow systems through mill and floatation area
Knowledge of the filtering and drying process
May be required to complete HAZMAT training as required by Department of Transportation regulations
Knowledge of placard system to accurately identify hazardous materials
Knowledge of environmental policies and responsible for reporting any issues and/or concerns

Overview

A Plant Operator operates and monitors plant equipment to produce quality products safely and efficiently. This position requires attention to detail and problem-solving skills to make adjustments and fix any issues.

Job Duties

Monitor and ensure the reliability of various industrial plant equipment, including, but not limited to: belt conveyors, pumps, screw conveyors, product elevators and product screens

Position: Mill Operator – Control Room

Schedule: Shift 14/14 – 12 hour days

Position Reports To: Mill Supervisor

Position Overview

The Mill Operator (Control Room) is responsible for operating and monitoring the mill via a computer-based control system to ensure safe production within equipment operational specifications and operational safety requirements. The CCRO will also respond to various alarms that will ensure the health and safety of workers in the mill. The CCRO must communicate effectively with various departments to effectively carry out his/her duties. This will be done under the direction of the Mill Supervisor or his/her designate.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Operates and monitor the computer-based control system within its design parameters.
Coordinates operations in a timely and effective manner with Maintenance, Mining and Site Services
Daily reporting and regular communication
Participate in the training of relief control room operators. During this training you will be required to assume the responsibilities of the mill operator and complete all job tasks as directed by the Mill Supervisor or designate.
Mentor fellow operators in understanding and adhering to daily activities
Mentor fellow workers in achieving and maintaining a strong safety culture within the mill.

Report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately.
Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Ensure that guidelines are adhered to.

We are looking for a Planner – Concentrator Maintenance to planning for Safety Work Execution. Ensuring all weekly maintenance activities are planned and scheduled in a manner that allows maximizes the efficiency of our people and equipment while improving the reliability of the operation.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Asset Management Concentrator, the Maintenance Planner will

Ensure safety needs are given a top priority in work planning, identifying Critical Risk in the planning process with appropriate controls accounted for so the work can be performed safely and effectively.
Identify and plan all maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability. Review work in the required schedule period taking into consideration (Asset criticality, statutory work, repairable/ rotable, severity and safety impact) inclusive of project maintenance work
For accountable area are prioritized, fully planned with all resources, materials and specialized tooling identified with assignment of appropriate status
Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure there is effective communication of the plans and upcoming maintenance to ensure appropriate risk management strategies are in place
Provide KPI data showing maintenance performance to varies departments and recommending system and design changes to improve processes materials.
Apply shutdown management best practices and scheduling shipping of repairable items and track them until they return to site.
Participate in defect elimination process, Courage to Care (CTC), DMAIC improvement projects, RCM, Safety Production System, Engineering Project work in your area, review activities related to the area of responsibility.

Descripción del puesto

Apoyar la inspección en terreno, operación de equipos menores y operación manual de equipos, según las indicaciones del Jefe de Turno u operadores de mayor especialización, con el objeto de dar cumplimiento a los planes de producción. Asimismo, si así se le instruye, podrá operar equipos especializados, equipos móviles menores y apoyar las tareas de limpieza del área asignada.

Apoyar la operación de equipos que realizan operadores con mayor especialización.
Realizar mantenciones menores que se le encarguen.
Ejecutar trabajos de aseo industrial y remoción de material según se le indique.

Efectuar el control sintomático de los equipos, registrar y comunicar los resultados a la sala de telecontrol.
Monitorear y reportar al supervisor correspondiente cualquier situación que esté fuera del estándar, sea respecto de personal de la compañía o contratista.

Formación y experiencia

Enseñanza media o técnico industrial.
De 2 a 3 años de operación de plantas en procesos mineros.
Conocimientos generales de la operación de equipos de procesamiento en plantas mineras
Conocimientos generales de mantenimiento
Licencia de conducir clase B y D.

Turno:

Las labores se desempeñarán en turno de siete días de trabajo por siete días de descanso en faena Mantos de Oro.

Tus Principales Desafíos Serán

¿Qué requisitos debes cumplir?

Tener enseñanza media completa. Deseable Titulo técnico nivel medio con especialidad mecánica, procesos, metalurgia o similar.
Mínimo 5 años de experiencia en cargos relacionados con la operación de planta en área seca ripios.
Licencia de conducir clase B (tres años mínimo de antigüedad).
Manejo de Microsoft Office.
Manejo de SAP.

Job Summary

Reporting to the VP Processing and Metallurgy the Director, Processing and Metallurgy will complement the company’s corporate technical services team by supporting a range of improvement initiatives and operational challenges across operating mine sites in Canada, the USA, Mexico and Brazil. This position will ideally be based in Vancouver, but other locations may be considered with regular travel to our mine sites and corporate office.

This position will provide technical support to existing mines’ Process Area teams for their carbon-in-leach, resin-in-leach and/or heap leach operations. They will work in close collaboration with the VP, Processing and Metallurgy and with the Process Area operations teams at each of the mine sites to support the development and execution of processing plans in collaboration with the vision for the process areas. In addition, they will be part of and support the Vancouver-based Technical Services team with conducting feasibility studies and Technical Reports.

Key Responsibilities

Having been exposed to industry best practices, the successful candidate will utilize their operational experience to:

Visit the mine site to identify, evaluate, and manage risks in the process areas, including the review of management plans, process status and process trend directions.
Assist with the development of practical, viable contingency plans in response to key risks to ensure production delivery.
Identify value-adding opportunities during site visits and audits.
Deliver on continuous improvement initiatives in conjunction with the Process Area teams to achieve production targets.
Undertake trade-off studies and cost estimation for process-related initiatives.
Ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
Benchmark Equinox Gold’s operations internally and against peers.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of engineering proficiency and operational experience in gold processing, particularly with crushing, grinding, leaching and associated technologies for gold recovery plants. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to successfully communicate with internal technical teams and external consultants through reports and presentations, delivering sound and respected professional advice. Strong operational skills and a willingness to travel (approx. 30%) to support the various mine site teams will be a key asset.

Specialist Skills Required

Experience in mineral processing facilities as a process engineer, process superintendent or manager.
Carbon-in-leach and carbon-in-pulp operational experience is preferred, and heap leach operational experience would be an asset.
Experience in a range of commodities, and preferably in gold.
Experience in processing methodology trade-offs.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including senior management, technical professionals and operational personnel.
Strong ability and desire to coach, mentor, and develop operational personnel with highly variable skillsets.
Experience in continuous improvement would be an asset.
Ability to work independently.
Proficiency in comminution software (i.e. Bruno, MetSim, USIM Pac etc.) and geometallurgical programs would be an asset.

Position Reports To: Mill Maintenance Supervisor

Role Summary

Under the general direction from the Mill Maintenance Supervisor perform mechanical maintenance and repair activities on fixed plant equipment for a gold production facility comprising:

Crushers.
Belt conveyance systems and apron feeders.
SAG mill, ball mill, and hydro cyclone classification systems
Thickening.
Leach tanks and agitators.
Carbon in Pulp (CIP) tanks and agitators.
Linear screens.
Reagent mixing and distribution systems
Slurry and water pumping and piping.
Compressed air and water utility systems.
Laboratory facilities.
All assigned tasks to be executed in the pursuit of excellence in asset and process reliability, maintenance management, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all New Gold, provincial, and federal policies related to health, safety, and the environment are followed during the execution of all maintenance and repair activities.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and proactive maintenance tasks.
Perform repairs in response to equipment breakdown and process interruptions.
Perform troubleshooting of process and equipment deficiencies.
Provide thorough feedback to Maintenance Planning personnel through documentation of assigned work orders.
Collaborate with Supervision and Maintenance Planning personnel to continually optimize maintenance processes and procedures.

Qualifications

Red Seal millwright designation or equivalent. Multiple journeyperson trade designations would be looked upon favorably.
Minimum 2 years’ previous experience working in an industrial maintenance role in an operating plant.
Previous experience on industrial plant construction, commissioning, and start-up would be an asset.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while delivering superior results.
A demonstrated ability to take proactive corrective action to remedy an asset or process deficiency.
Previous experience in a leadership role would be an asset.
Ability to analyze and resolve problems of moderate complexity.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and manuals related to the plant and the assets being maintained.

Our Henderson mine and mill are an hour drive apart – separated by the Continental Divide and a 15-mile conveyor system (10 miles underground). The Henderson mine is an underground molybdenum mining operation located approximately 42 miles west of Denver and 10 miles west of Empire. It has been in operation since 1976 and today consists of a large block-cave, underground mining complex feeding a concentrator with a current capacity of approximately 32,000 metric tons per day. It can produce approximately 15 million pounds of molybdenum per year. The Henderson mill is located 15 miles west of the mine, between Dillon and Kremmling.

What You Will Do

Safely performs maintenance, installation, and repair of equipment and processes in the Milling plant including mills, conveyors, screens and like systems. 
Assist with and perform component replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: conveyor systems, ball mills, auto mills, screen decks, lube systems, filter drums, crushers, hydraulic filter presses, and foundry pumps
Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance: identify potential failures/noises/wear on agitators, rotors, belts, pulleys, gear boxes
May perform welding (Stick, TIG)
Responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections
Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

One (1) year of experience in mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
Ability read and use schematics and blue prints
Must have completed academic and competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees), and have experience demonstrating required mechanical aptitude.  Selected candidate shall demonstrate ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment.  This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

As a Millwright/Industrial Mechanic, you will be responsible for installing and dismantling equipment to inspecting and maintaining equipment. Your experience and skills will contribute to interpreting instructions, sketches, drawings, templates, work orders, welding procedures, and data sheets related to work assignments in either the shop or field.

Additionally, in this position, you will:

Install, dismantle, assemble, construct, erect, move, replace, inspect, adjust, maintain, and repair mechanical and process equipment and structures throughout mines and plants.
Install, inspect, service, and test hoisting ropes and shaft conveyances.
Perform metal welding excluding pressure welding.
Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

About You

Education:

Fully Licensed Journeyperson: Trade Certification - A valid Millwright/Industrial Mechanic trade certificate for the province of Ontario (Red Seal 433A) is required.
Minimum grade 12 completed or GED is required.

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of industrial experience is preferred.

Skills:

Thorough knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical principles is preferred.
Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission, mechanical drives, conveyor systems, pumps, overhead cranes) is considered an asset.
Oxy acetylene cutting and burning is considered an asset.
