About The Role

As a Health & Safety Graduate, you will be offered a permanent role and become a valuable member of the Health, Safety and Training team at our mine sites. Health & Safety Surveys

Conduct targeted surveys that highlight or validate key organizational or systemic lapses within the Health & Safety management system.
Provide detailed feedback to relevant Health & Safety Superintendents on the findings of these surveys.

What You Will Do

Directs employee engagement activities such as risk assessments and raising general safety awareness to employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
Leads safety audits and inspects facilities within area of responsibility to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory laws.
Manages Health and Safety functions or projects.
Trains staff from multiple divisions in safety procedures, including specialized safety training (e.g., confined space, LOTOTO) and Annual Refresher Training as required.
Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifies any problem areas, and may direct remedial action.
Participates on cross-function teams to manage moderately complex incident investigation and root cause analysis.
Accompanies MSHA/OSHA/State Mine Inspectors and document regulated field activities.
Conducts health and safety orientations, visit work sites and distribute literature to implement and promote safety and/or environmental policies and procedures.
May administer workers’ compensation program for the company, including interacting with workers’ compensation insurers, monitoring claims, developing and administering loss prevention and rehabilitation management/monitoring programs, maintain files, and provide necessary support in defense of claims.

This role will provide a quality materials supply function to a section of a Production Unit by performing all stores materials supply operations efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities:

Adheres to stores operating procedures, to achieve efficiency in the store under the guidance of the Supply Chain Officer/Supply Chain Supervisor. These would include scheduling, receiving, storage, issuing and Materials Handling processes.
Verifies quality, condition and correctness of measure of all material received directly from suppliers and from another store.
Returns materials where necessary.
Ensures effective and accurate issuing of material from stock – including picking, packing, staging and notification of customers.
Issues fuel and capture consumption information accurately.
Applies correct procedures for issuing of emergency and after-hours orders.
Undertakes good housekeeping practices at the stores
Keeps records accurately, to ensure integrity of administration systems at the stores
Adheres to performance standards at the stores (as specified by Service Level Agreements with the Production Units).
Receives documents, investigates and responds to customer queries. Meets commitments in respect of response times.
Performs cycle counting to ensure that system records and stock on hand are always corresponding.

Assist with the monitoring of compliance to the Mines Health and Safety Act and other applicable legislation by conducting inspections.

Ensure compliance to Mandatory COP’s and other safety related COP’s and GP’s i.e. WAH, confined spaces, cranes and lifting barricading, scaffolding, isolation and lock out etc.
