MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Our organization is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and well-organized professional to fill the permanent position of Maintenance Supervisor at our quarry in Lower Cove, NL. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and possess the necessary interpersonal and professional skills to function in a leadership role. We are looking for an individual who has previous supervisory experience and a background in heavy equipment maintenance and who can also supervise other aspects of our fixed equipment maintenance program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Works toward safety goals in all aspects of this role.

- Supervises and coordinates the maintenance of both mobile and fixed equipment.

- Supports the Production Department by responding to requests promptly in order that production quotas are maintained.

- Adopts a “customer service” approach to assist all external stakeholders with their maintenance activities.

- Develops close relationships with contractors to ensure that the work they perform is completed on time, meets Company standards and provides value for money.

- Conducts regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.

- Maintains appropriate documentation.

- Uses Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in a variety of functions.’

- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Applicants must have completed a Red Seal Certification in an appropriate maintenance trade and have significant experience in the mining industry.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

- Strong written and oral communication skills.

- A valid driver’s license.

MAINTENANCE 1 – Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary: The successful applicant will be responsible for performing a full range of repairs on mobile equipment at quarry in Lower Cove, NL.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Completion of a Heavy Equipment Mechanic red seal certification is required, 3rd and 4th year apprentices may be considered. Experience with hydraulic and electrical system troubleshooting and repair is preferred. Experience dealing with highway and off highway trucks, small to large loaders, excavators, dozers, and DTH drills would be a definite asset. A background in related trades and knowledge of computers is a definite asset. The successful applicant must be self-motivated and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must have and must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable safety record. The successful applicant will also be required to provide their own tools.

HOURS OF WORK

The successful candidate will be required to participate in shift work in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have

Bachelor Engineering degree or Technologist certification in a related discipline
Demonstrated experience in reliability engineering and in diagnosis and resolution of technically advanced problems
Sound understanding of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles
Understanding and application of condition monitoring techniques

We are offering a 4-month (May to August) or 8-month (May to December) Mine Engineering internship based in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador at our Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) operations. Relocation to Labrador City is required for this role. Accommodation and relocation assistance to Labrador City and return upon end of internship will be provided.

This internship will allow you to have direct exposure to engineering work on an active mine site. The intern will be responsible for supporting different activities relating to IOC’s mine process. The role will mostly focus on office related duties but will also include some field exposure.

We are looking for a Planner – Concentrator Maintenance to planning for Safety Work Execution. Ensuring all weekly maintenance activities are planned and scheduled in a manner that allows maximizes the efficiency of our people and equipment while improving the reliability of the operation.

Identify and plan all maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability. Review work in the required schedule period taking into consideration (Asset criticality, statutory work, repairable/ rotable, severity and safety impact) inclusive of project maintenance work
For accountable area are prioritized, fully planned with all resources, materials and specialized tooling identified with assignment of appropriate status
Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure there is effective communication of the plans and upcoming maintenance to ensure appropriate risk management strategies are in place
Provide KPI data showing maintenance performance to varies departments and recommending system and design changes to improve processes materials.
Apply shutdown management best practices and scheduling shipping of repairable items and track them until they return to site.
Participate in defect elimination process, Courage to Care (CTC), DMAIC improvement projects, RCM, Safety Production System, Engineering Project work in your area, review activities related to the area of responsibility.

In this role

Assist with geotechnical pit inspections and the collection of geotechnical data from both active mine areas and brownfield properties.
Assist with geological and geotechnical core logging and sampling to collect pertinent data and ensure timely processing of samples.
Work to high standards for quality assurance, quality control and data validation of for all geological data.
Assist with field work for diamond drill program including, use of high precision GPS within mine site and exploration site

Scope Of Work

Innu Inuit Redpath Limited Partnership (IIR) will be the primary contractor on an underground mine project located on the east coast of Labrador, approximately 350 km north of Goose Bay. Future mining from the two separate underground deposits will extend the life of this operation for at least another decade. Both deposits contain Nickel and Copper and at peak production, 2.54 million tons will be mined annually.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent, the Underground Millwright/ is responsible for direct or indirect support of mining operations by assuming responsibility for the maintenance, repair and manufacturing of all metal structures, both underground and on the surface, related to production.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

Component assembly of the stationary equipment (pumps, motors, conveyors and muck handling systems)
Fabrication and equipment repair
Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes
Maintenance, repair and manufacturing of all metal structures both for underground and on surface
Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions
Ensure that all installation processes meet company quality standards

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to engage in a variety of activities, including conducting surveys, planning drill programs, designing monitoring networks, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Reporting to the Superintendent, you will

Conduct hydrogeological surveys
Plan investigative diamond drill hole and pilot well drill programs
Design the groundwater monitoring network
Conduct hydrogeologic investigations, including falling/rising/pump testing

We are looking for a Supervisor – Warehouse/Transport to be responsible for managing a team of Storepeople and sometimes drivers (as required) to coordinate shift activities safely and cost effectively deliver Warehousing targets. You will also be required to coordinate shift activities internally to ensure targets are met or exceeded. This includes effectively managing crews and providing support for all Warehouse/Transportation related work. The role is based in Labrador City, NL.

Reporting to the Superintendent and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will be

Ensuring team members work safely and follow all safety standards and safe work practices
Participating in IOC's safety program and role model appropriate safety behaviours (safety observations, group safety talks, planned general inspections, accident/incident investigations, etc.)
Lead and inspire the team by fostering a collaborative environment, planning effectively, and setting clear goals that emphasize safety, results, and customer satisfaction. Arrange appropriate training for team members, review work performance, and address grievances at the primary stage.
Supervising, coordinating and monitoring the execution of scheduled work plans and unplanned emergency and breakdown work, defining sequence and assignments based on work priority and availability of equipment and manpower
Providing good customer service and maintain a continuous improvement focus by working with customers and team members to resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve maintenance productivity and quality
Providing timely data into various information systems (i.e. employee pay details, monthly reports, etc.)
Developing and promoting a positive employee relations environment within the department

About The Role

We are seeking Maintenance Engineers to support and implement best practices outlined by Rio Tinto Asset Management, aiming to enhance the safety and performance of IOC assets. We have several positions available, focusing specifically on conveyors, pumps, and refractory systems.

Your role will involve boosting the performance and output of IOC’s assets by applying reliability principles, offering expertise to resolve issues with underper

forming assets, and fostering a culture of reliability within the organization.

Reporting to the Superintendent working on a Monday-Friday schedule, you will

Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
When required lead root cause analysis (RCA) and failure investigations to prevent recurrence of critical equipment issues
Provide technical expertise and mentorship to the execution teams
Ensure best practices are implemented across site in specific disciplines
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Contribute to capital projects and equipment upgrades from a maintenance perspective
Manage and optimize maintenance plans in CMMS (e.g., SAP)
Monitor maintenance KPIs (e.g., equipment availability, MTBF, MTTR) and drive performance improvements
Coordinate with operations, planning, and reliability teams to ensure alignment of maintenance activities with production goals
Support shutdown and turnaround planning and execution
Assist in budget development and cost control for maintenance activities

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have

Bachelor Engineering degree or Technologist certification in a related discipline
Demonstrated experience in reliability engineering and in diagnosis and resolution of technically advanced problems
Sound understanding of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles
Understanding and application of condition monitoring techniques
Must possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various departments and teams
Change driver Capable of initiating improvements and having the influence to implement them successfully
