Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Job Description
As the Compliance Coordinator you will be accountable for assisting with all aspects of compliance activities and systems on site including:
- Coordinating all aspects of Emergency response procedures and systems on site, including Mines Rescue personnel.
- Supervision and direction to Fire Officer and Compliance Officer
- Ensuring safe work practices are carried out in line with department targets will remain your priority as well as ensuring compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulations.
- Liaising with Statutory Officials including Undermanager’s to assist with business requirements.
- Working within a team to safely deliver targets in line with business plans
- Proven Stakeholder management experience
Qualifications
In order to be considered for this position you must have the following:
- In-depth knowledge of the Coal Mining Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
- Experience in a similar role or in a statutory position within an underground mining operation and a track record identifying risks and implementing safe working practices
- Statutory qualification (Queensland 3rd class Deputy Certification or equivalent) is preferred but not essential
- S1, S2, S3 and G2 or G3
- RIIERR201 – Conduct Fire Team Operations
- First Aid and CPR
