Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Health and Safety General Supervisor, you will be part of the Health & Safety Department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Responsible for understanding the health and safety goals and strategies for the company and working with the Health & Safety General Supervisor to develop targets to achieve fiscal, strategic and legislative requirements
- Responsible and accountable for supporting and advising operations in the Underground environment in terms of safety meetings, huddles, developing and managing procedures, standards and providing guidelines for safe work
- Responsible for ensuring site compliance with local (Provincial) and National legislation and producing inspection reports in required timelines
- Participate in incident investigations and any follow up action items
- Inspect, audit and evaluate health and safety management systems, workplace conditions, equipment and practices
- Ensure training provided to employees meets the intended requirements
- Correct or commend health and safety performance
- Ensure new policies and procedures are distributed, discussed and adhered to
- Other duties as assigned
What You Need To Succeed
- 5 years of experience as an Underground Miner
- Minimum Post-Secondary Education OR Trade certification
- Must have demonstrated leadership skills in influencing, conflict management, training of personnel etc.
- Additional leadership experience and training considered an asset
- A solid background in the Underground Mining Operations or a combination of suitable experience is required
- Basic Underground Common Core Modules
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to motivate others and initiate change that yields positive results in terms of health and safety
- A solid knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants is essential
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days off or 5 days of work, followed by 2 days off at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON
