About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Primary Responsibilities
- Check graders and other and mining equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Perform inspections, maintenance and repairs on underground equipment:scoops, forklifts, loaders, haul trucks, excavator, grader, etc... Perform inspections, maintenance and repairs on all underground equipment.
- Must be able to learn how to diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Must be able to learn and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Attach components and adjust new equipment.
- Perform equipment audits.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist. (Audits, PM’s, Pre-Ops and Post-Ops)
- Create work-orders, find parts and complete parts list in work-orders using all available resources (without any supervision).
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Experience
- Completion of secondary school.
- Previous Mechanical schooling is preferred (Pre-apprenticeship course) .
- Additional Trade License in a Mechanical Trade is an asset.
- A minimum of 1-2 years working on vehicles and equipment.
Other Skills & Abilities
- Prompt daily attendance at assigned schedule.
- Willingness to work alternative shifts as assigned.
- Must supply own mechanic tools.
- Good vision, hearing and must have the strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment and work in cramped or awkward positions, lift objects of various shapes up to 75lbs.
- Mechanical ability and an interest in all types of machinery and engines, electronics and precision equipment.
- Have good diagnostic skills.
- The ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
