About the role
Reporting directly to the Senior Advisor – EMS and Chemistry, the Officer – EMS & Chemistry plays a key role in supporting the daily administrative operations of the Environmental Monitoring & Reporting. This position is vital for ensuring accurate documentation, effective administration of construction activities, supporting project management processes and the smooth flow of communication between stakeholders, all while supporting NPL’s Environment activities.
In This Role, You Will
- Always Comply with NPL Safety and Environment Policies
- Ensure chemistry field monitoring, laboratory analyses and reporting are completed in accordance with NPL policies, Management Plans, procedures and schedules
- Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed on time
- Promote environmentally sound work practices among peers and contractors and ensure all environmental requirements are complied with and maintained
- Be safety conscious and observe NPL Health and Safety Policy
- Perform other tasks as requested by supervisor or dept manager
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- Tertiary (Degree or Diploma) educational qualification in chemistry
- 1 or more years of laboratory experience
- Hands on experience in chemistry field sampling and laboratory analyses/preparations
- Be willing to work and overnight in remote locations when required
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint)
- Be a team player, willingness to learn new skills and take initiative in the role
- Be keen to work near and around water.
- Must have a valid PNG Driver’s License
- Position is categorized as local staff
Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National Local Staff position, a site-based role on a Walk in Walk out arrangement with rotation of 10 days on and 4 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Must be a Local Porgeran (Cat 1A – SML, Cat 1B –LMP or Cat 2 – Other Porgera) candidate and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
