New Afton is situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

About the Role
Schedule: 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off; 11hour workdays (Day Shift only)
Duration: The position is a fixed term between May 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025
Position Reports To: Exploration Superintendent
Position Overview: The incumbent will be tasked with supporting all exploration activities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Core logging and supervising core sampling
- Field mapping, prospecting, and project evaluations
- Drilling activities supervision
- Technical support via data analysis
- Geological modelling, and target generation
- Preparation of quarterly and annual progress updates
- Reporting of geological activities
- Assisting and implementing programs in the following areas: prospecting and soil sampling, mapping, monthly reconciliation, land management, resource modelling and reporting
- Day to day supervision and development of the personnel in the geology team
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following skills or experience:
- An undergraduate degree in Geology or Earth Sciences; M.Sc. in Geology will be given preference
- P.Geo/GIT designation eligible with EGBC considered an asset
- 4 years of geology related experience in mining or exploration environment is preferred
- Demonstrated the ability of being a contributing team member, demonstrate strong ethical attitude, initiative and able to manage required level of responsibility
- A broad understanding of geological and mineralization systems and applicable exploration methods, strategy, technology, and methodology
- Experience in core logging
- Physically fit for duty
- Strong computer skills including knowledge with database, GIS, and modelling software (Leapfrog, Vulcan etc.)
- Strong leadership abilities in both exploration and production situations and experienced in supervising a geology group
- Strong proficiency in verbal and written communication and time management skills
- Experience in geological mapping, geochemical and geophysical surveys, data interpretation and geological modelling
- Ability to work as part of a team and possess the ability to keep abreast of developments in the field
Other Requirements
Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
- Completion of pre-placement functional screen
- Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
- Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
Compensation
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $85,000 and $100,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
