New Afton Mine
Situated 10 kilometers west of picturesque Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.
Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. About The Role
Schedule: 5x2 or 4 on, 3 off, 10 hour days, flexible schedule
Position Reports To: Fixed Plant Maintenance Superintendent
Position Overview
The Fixed Asset Maintenance Planner is a critical role in the success of plant operations. This role requires someone with excellent relationship building, planning, and leadership skills who is excited to join a world class operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Executing the Maintenance Process Flow for planning and scheduling, producing detailed work plans and coordinate resources, updating strategy documents and BOM’s, and providing leadership on redesigns that will reduce maintenance costs and downtime.
- Overseeing maintenance teams and projects as necessary.
- Participating in and occasionally conducting safety meetings with the maintenance crews, regularly reviewing and updating SOP’s.
- Participating in Business Improvement and development initiatives
- Using the Company’s values, goals and KPI’s to inform all aspects of the department operations.
Overtime opportunities
- In this position, you will be asked to work overtime to support the company during Planned and unplanned Shutdowns or to provide coverage for employees on the opposite shift.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson Millwright or Welder certification and/or an Engineering degree/diploma in applicable technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably planning for the maintenance of milling, crushing, conveying and pumping equipment in the mining industry
- Demonstrates a dedication to promoting safety in the workplace
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to chair meetings
- Solid computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite and SAP
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems
- Attitude of environmental stewardship
- Diligence, honesty and integrity in all work-related activities
- Understands the reliability tools and techniques
- Understands world class lubrication and oil sampling techniques, and other condition-based maintenance practices.
- Previous supervisory experience considered an asset
Other Requirements
Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
- Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
- Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
- Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
Compensation
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $85,000 to $120,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
